Happy Birthday!

Reunion Memories

Lately...

Summer flew by and my second year at college has been going quick so far too. I have been taking a business management course on Mondays and Wednesdays, an astronomy class online, and a college algebra class which is only on Fridays and the rest of the work for it is done online. I will have a career exploration class as well but that won't start up until halfway through the semester. My astronomy and math  are really keeping me busy and I have a tendency to put things off until the last minute ( I suppose this is just how college students are) which makes things difficult. I am also working at the school in the student activities office. I did orientation this summer and we had a really fun group. I met a lot of the students who were starting freshmen and I have tried to keep in contact with them to make their first year go smoothly. We did 8 sessions, morning, afternoon/evening, weekend...I really enjoyed that.

This is the group photo of the orientation leaders. We had really cute shirts and they looked like we were wearing backpacks. The second guy from the right and the girl to the far right work in the office with me. The third guy from the right is my boyfriend (uh oh!), but we didn't start talking until after we stopped working together (and until after he broke up with his girlfriend haha). But the three of us that work in the activities office have a lot of fun. We get to plan, advertise and run fun events on campus. We try to have one every week so it gets pretty busy at times. I love every second of it. Here are a couple of pictures of things I actually get paid to do.

These chalkboards sit out around campus the two weeks leading up to the events. I really enjoy coming up with ideas of what to put on them. When I started the job they used to write on them just the date and time of the event, but I really wanted to jazz them up, so everyone in our office has gotten good about making them really creative. My dinosaur astronaut with a purple laser gun was completely random though and it really had nothing to do with the fact that we were giving out free soda and chips. Oh well. I thought it was cute. We also have dry erase boards that we put out.

This hot dog day was really fun. I will say that after that I could care less about eating a hot dog ever again. I handled so many that the smell of them made me gag. It ended up being great though because a guy from a local radio station stopped by and handed out merchandise. I helped him set up and in exchange he gave Katie and I free tickets to a Foo Fighters concert and t-shirts!

I ended up going with Katie (above) and Shawn to the concert. I was supposed to go with James but he has been working nights and really long hours and wasn't able to go because he had only had two hours of sleep and would have had to go to work afterwards. The three of us had a great time though! The concert was really good and it was at the Sprint center in KC which I had never been to. That place is huge!

We looked so cute all matchy matchy! After the concert there was a guy peeing in the parking garage in front of his car and everyone on the road below could see him, he just waved. Immediately after witnessing that, the guy in the car beside us had his entire index finger up his nose. People in the city are interesting and not at all shy about their unusual body habits.

Tuesday night we had a college night at Royals Stadium. It was really fun, and the tickets were free through work (so many perks with my job!). I went with Shawn (who is now my boyfriend as of the 19th, he probably waited until 9/19 so it would be easy for him to remember the date, you know how boys are) and we also took his brother Tyler. When we got there we ran into Destiny and Danielle who I went to high school with (small world) so we all sat together. There was a meal before the game and the PR staff from the college got a photo of all of us and it is now featured on the school's blog.
click here to see photo on schools blog  the picture is on a rotation so it may take a second, but I thought it was pretty good. We also took pictures outside the stadium in front of the fountains in our MCC Night at the K t shirts--(I am starting to see a theme with the matching..?)

So lucky to get a picture with Slugger!..... I curled my hair for this..it took 2 hours. I guess I should be happy my hair is that thick, but jeez! It was perfect weather that night though, 70's I think. We won the game also which was pretty good considering we are one of the worst teams in the league.

I'm not sure what other exciting things I will be up to, but I am trying to make the most of my time in college and I am glad I have been able to surround myself with quality people who like to have fun in ways other than drinking (which is all most college students want to do). Since halloween is coming up I would like to find a corn maze and get a group to go do that. I've never gone but I think it would be really fun. Once it gets cold I have plans to go ice skating at crown center, that will be a first also.
For now I'll just take things one day at a time and try to balance school and fun.

I really wish I could see you guys it seems like its been so long! Thank goodness we had the reunion so we could all spend a little more time together after the madness of Daniel's wedding. I should have taken more pictures! You can never have too many pictures!

I hope I rambled on about my life enough! I just wanted to share what's been happening lately and share a few photos. I'm sad I can't be there for the party! Fee free to send me emails, I would love to hear from everyone!

I love you all so much!
